All in a day's work...

When I meet young people like 6 year old Angeline, it reaffirms my faith in humanity. Her family rescued a Red-shouldered hawk a few weeks ago from their back yard and to help buy mice for him, Angeline set up a lemonade stand in her John's Creek neighborhood. Now, she could have done a lot of other things on that beautiful Saturday afternoon, but she wanted to help me help him. Her momma could have just as easily stroked a check, but Angeline was on a mission and I can't tell you how much I appreciate her help. Very few people offer to help when they bring me a bird, as most are under the misguided impression that I receive financial help from the state and feds. MmmHmm...

The almost $36.00 she raised in those few hours paid for his mice, along with gas back and forth to Dr. Martinez at Loving Hands Animal Hospital, gas back and forth to fly him on the creance in the big field down the road AND the gas to take him over for the release back to his territory. What a terrific young lady!

All set up and ready to serve...all we need now are thirsty CUSTOMERS!

Look! Here comes one now.

Mouse Money! Woot!

So, as a special surprise for our little business woman, I brought over Nigel for her to hold! What a treat for her. She was the envy of all the crew who came over to welcome "Angel" back home!

The video of the release is below this post.

Nigel also stepped in to help Lynn Coulter's book signing of Little Mercies at Barnes & Noble yesterday. There were tons of people that came out to support and Nigel was the consummate gentleowl, as always!

Nigel perched at Barnes & Noble, absorbing all the wonderful energy!

David is escorting Hank over the Rainbow Bridge... Our condolences to Jim and Betty who lost their wonderful companion last week...

If you have a little Mouse Money to spare, we sure would stretch that dollar nine ways to Sunday. You could go over to www.hawktalk.org, click on the 'donate' button to take you over to PayPal, or you may snail mail it to HawkTalk, P.O. Box 130, Holly Springs, GA, 30142. Every little bit helps me help them.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog....m.
