thanks for asking...the eye is definitely shot, but that doesn't mean he isn't releasable. I'll be taking both this Screech and the red-tailed hawk to the ophthalmologist one day next week to get them both checked out. I just need to make sure the lens hasn't fallen forward, then I'll do some live prey testing...
Although it's a neat idea to have two functioning eyes, the most important aspect of the owl is to make sure that the hearing on that side hasn't been affected and to see if he can catch food will be key...

...yes, i've known of several wild critters who have made it just fine with one eye. Will be pulling for him :)
